The Story of God
God wants to be your Heavenly Father forever. There is nothing you have done that is so terrible the blood of Jesus can't cover it. Faith that is sufficient for salvation is a free gift from God. We don't deserve it, we can't earn it, and we can't work our way up to it. But there are some things you need to understand first.
The Road to Understanding Salvation
Romans 3:23 - . . . for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, . . .
Every single one of us has a sin problem. The problem is that just one sin of any kind is sufficient for us to be eternally separated from the perfect and holy God.
Romans 5:8 - But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
God understood our sin problem long before we ever did. God loved you so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to be the only perfect payment for your sins.
Ephesians 2:8 & 9 - For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
You salvation comes through faith in what God has done, not anything you have done. We don't earn faith, we receive it from God.
Romans 10:9 & 10 - That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
If you are to be saved by the sacrifice of Jesus, you must publicly confess [commit] to Jesus as the Lord of your life. That means Jesus becomes the boss, or final authority, in your life. You want to make choices that fill Jesus with joy. But there is also a second part that is necessary to be saved. You must be firmly convinced that God did indeed raise Jesus from the dead. You don't have to understand "how", just accept that God did.
Romans 8:38 & 39 - For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The Bible is clear that once you become a genuine child of God, you will never lose that relationship. Salvation and Eternal Security are not a license to sin as you want. If you are truly saved, how much sinning would you really want to do? Salvation and Eternal Security are a reminder that God loves you so much that the death of Jesus is sufficient to pay for ALL your sins; before and after you become saved.
